In reverance to, and in humble imitation of Benjerman Franklin

Franklin conceived of Poor Richard’s Almanac as a practical, low‑cost annual to improve everyday decision‑making for ordinary people. It evolved into a best‑selling cultural touchstone whose plain‑spoken wit, data, and advice helped shape American habits of thrift, industry, and self‑improvement.

Franklin’s Almanac offered one handy booklet that farmers, sailors, shopkeepers, and households could rely on for calendars, sunrise/sunset, tides, eclipses, planting notes, and road distances. Our Operative / Productive section includes our recommendations for tools that you can use in our modern world to serve the same purpose.

Franklin also mixed ephemerides with jokes, riddles, proverbs, and “receipts” (tips), making learning feel like conversation rather than lecture. Our space endeavors to meet this same goal.

We attempt to provide eclectic content that is relevant to today’s world, but that Franklin would have been proud to include in his almanac. Scattered throughout our site, you will find items related to all seven liberal arts.
